Post Procedural Care (Days 1-5) | Complication Warning Signs
Potential Side Effects
Provide your technician with an accurate and up to date medical history in order to receive a safe and effective treatment. Side effects are temporary and uncommon but may include; Hyperpigmentation (darkening of skin), hypopigmentation (lightening of skin), allergic reaction, mild chemical burns, temporary redness, swelling and itching in treated area, streaking, bruising, and a lack of desired results.
Pre-Treatment
Discontinue use of depilatories, electrolysis, hair treatments (color, perms or straighteners), loofah or other types of exfoliating sponges, masks, AHA/BHA products, or topical retinols 7 days pretreatment.
Clients who have used Accutane within 6 months may not receive esthetic treatments.
Come to your treatment with clean skin in the area to be treated.
Waxing clients must have a 14 inch growth but no more than 12 inch growth in order to receive treatment.
Avoid extended sun exposure, tanning or self tanning products for a minimum of 1 week prior to treatment.
Clients who are darkly tanned, sunburned or have applied self tanner should wait at least 2 weeks before being treated in order to avoid additional skin damage.
If you are prone to cold sores, take an anti-viral medication (such as Valtrex) prior to your treatment.
Remove contact lenses.
You cannot receive any esthetic treatments if you have any open lesions, cold sores or infections in the area to be treated.
If you have had eye surgery of any kind within the past 6 months, your appointment will need to be rescheduled.
If you prefer to use numbing cream, you can purchase Nueromed7 from the front desk or you can meet with our Medical Director to purchase a prescription strength numbing cream.
Numbing cream will need to be applied 30 minutes prior to treatment.
What to Expect During Your Treatment
Chemical Peels
Application of peel will take 1 to 10 minutes.
A stinging or itching sensation is normal and will diminish in 5 to 10 minutes when receiving a
peel.
Micro-Needling
Treatment may involve slight discomfort.
Expect moderate pinpoint bleeding, erythema and edema during treatment.
Clients with bleeding disorders should not receive Microneedling treatments.
Waxing
Application will take 15 to 45 minutes depending on area.
Treatment may involve mild to moderate discomfort.
Post Treatment
Facials, Chemical Peels, Microderm, Dermasound, Microneedling, Microcurrent, Waxing
You may apply non-comedogenic make-up directly after procedure
You may experience slight redness that will disappear within 24 hours
You may apply Hydrocortisone 1% ointment if redness or swelling occurs
Apply a hydrating Post Treatment Cream twice daily or as needed
When washing your face, wait at least 2 hours and use a mild cleanser. Do not scrub.
To achieve desired results, 4 to 6 treatments are recommended.
Consult with your esthetician for customized programs
Do not wax for 2 weeks post treatment
Avoid heat which includes exercise, Jacuzzi or any other activity that would heat up the skin for at least 12 hours
Avoid extended sun exposure or tanning for a minimum of 1 week post treatment
If blisters occur, do not puncture. If skin is broken, apply an anti-biotic ointment until healed
Do not pick at any lesions or flaking/peeling skin as this will increase the risk of side-effects
Tylenol is recommended for post treatment discomfort
Avoid any laser treatments or chemical procedures on the treated area for at least 2 weeks post treatment
Use of a broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 30 is critical and is recommended ongoing for maintenance of results
Mild exfoliation on the treated area can help prevent ingrown hairs
If you experience any side effects such as hypo or hyper pigmentation, prolonged redness or swelling, histamine reaction, or blistering, call or come in for instructions on further post care
